About the research
Its overarching aim is to enhance the uses of human dignity in legal practice in the UK. While they have been gathering momentum in response to growing challenges to human rights, human dignity is a relatively new concept to UK law and remains unfamiliar to many practitioners. This project has three specific aims: 1. Strengthen existing collaboration with key practitioners using or wishing to use human dignity in litigation, as well as collaboration amongst them. 2. Identify key human dignity issues and challenges faced by legal practitioners. 3. Co-develop guidance to facilitate and enhance uses of human dignity in legal practice. The project led to a special issue on human dignity in the European Human Rights Law Review (2, 2019), guest edited by C Dupre.
