About the research

The project argues that although ethical and social implications of nanoscience and nanotechnology are well-researched fields of Science and Technology Studies (STS), the knowledge- and object-formation of nanoscaled medical laboratory work hasn’t gained significant interest. However, in order to understand, assess and engage with a fairly new field of life sciences and its possible effects on our healthcare system, it is crucial to analyse the complexities of science in the making. Hence, along a multisited ethnographic approach, the project investigates how medical sciences and their matters of concern of developing novel forms of diagnosis and therapy shape and are shaped by nanoscaled relations and processes.
