The module explores a wide variety of approaches to the study of the contemporary Middle East, with a particular emphasis on topics from humanities. It develops a pluri-disciplinary approach to topics such as material culture, heritage and memory, gender, and literature. A team of academics works tightly together to deliver this module. As the module is team-taught, the structure of the individual seminars is rather flexible, although it will always include a significant amount of active student participation, as is expected at the MA level. There is no prerequisite to enrol on this module.
