ARAM222: Research Assistant in Middle East Studies

Module Content
Syllabus Plan
Whilst the module’s precise content may vary from year to year, it is envisaged that the syllabus will cover the following topics in chronological order:
Term 1:
Initial meeting between DoE and students to introduce the module.
Workshops on how to define your role as a research assistant and communicate effectively with your project manager.
Review and reflection workshops mid-way through term 1 and at towards the end of term 1.
Project placement/research assistantship.
Term 2:
Review and reflection workshop mid-way through term 2.
Workshops showcasing the various projects towards the end of term 2, including individual student presentations detailing the project objectives, activities, outcomes and challenges.
Project placement/research assistantship.
Submission of project contribution (5,000 words).
750-word self-assessment.
