POLM080: Global Justice

Module Aims

  • To give students an understanding of the normative questions that arise within the sphere of international politics.
  • To explore the contemporary literature on global justice.
  • To enable students to develop and defend, through clear and coherent argumentation, their views on important ethical issues.

On successfully completing the programme you will be able to:
Module-Specific Skills1. explain and contrast the key positions in the contemporary debate on global justice;
2. present a critical assessment of the literature studied in the module;
Discipline-Specific Skills3. evaluate philosophical arguments relating to global politics;
4. summarise philosophical issues and debates relating to global politics and formulate arguments about the subject orally;
Personal and Key Skills5. criticise extended and sophisticated texts; and
6. elaborate structured, evidence-based and logical arguments in short and long pieces of writing.
