This module will develop the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary for you to teach primary aged children in both Key
Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, and to understand how to understand the curriculum in related phases.
The module will increase your overall understanding of primary education and will be additional to the teaching and learning
you will experience in the Educational and Professional Studies, Curriculum Studies and Primary Professional Learning
module. The module will be led by University of Exeter academics with input from outstanding teachers who are part of our School Direct programme.
There is an emphasis within the module to develop in a more in-depth and practical manner, some of the concepts taught theoretically during your Educational and Professional Studies and Curriculum Studies modules. Linking theory to practice within a school context will prepare you to become an outstanding primary school practitioner. The module will enable you to achieve the depth of understanding required to reach the Teachers’ Standards (2012) at a level
acceptable for Qualified Teacher Status.
Taught sessions will be delivered via lectures, seminars, and workshops (on and off-campus).
