The module provides knowledge in understanding and researching emerging issues in the cross-disciplinary field of Science and Technology. It aims to understand the socio-cultural development of scientific and medical facts and technologies and the politics involved.  It explores and critically discusses the development of (social) constructivist accounts in STS, its history and central topics, issues, research agendas, theoretical orientations and disputes, philosophical linkages, and methodological questions and innovations. The module also draws attention to (experimental) models of public engagement with emerging societal issues of scientific practice and the development and application of new technologies. The module also offers an understanding of the wider impact of constructivist thought for emerging societal issues in fields like dis/ability studies, care studies and the sociology of health and illness.
