ARA1016: Reading and Translation
This module descriptor refers to the 2016/7 academic year.
Module Aims
This is a core module for First Year Single Honours Students, but can be taken as an optional module by other students of similar level. Its aim is to enable the students to read, understand and translate simple texts from English into Arabic and from Arabic into English.
On successfully completing the programme you will be able to: | |

Module-Specific Skills | 1. Acquired the skills to read and understand elementary texts in Arabic with and without the use of a dictionary. 2. Translate from English into Arabic and from Arabic into English simple texts from various sources. |
Discipline-Specific Skills | 3. Use correct grammar, some linguistic forms and structures in writing; ability to use the dictionary. |
Personal and Key Skills | 4. Develop time management skills and ability to demonstrate how to conduct independent study; 5. Work in pairs and groups on text-based work 6. Demonstrate confidence in reading and writing skills. |
