ARA2010: Work Placement
This module descriptor refers to the 2016/7 academic year.
Module Content
Syllabus Plan
Whilst the module’s precise content may vary from year to year, it is envisaged that the syllabus will cover some or all of the following topics:
- Introduction to the placement and its aims to be delivered by IAIS.
- Sessions related to ‘Understanding Your Place of Work’ to include a health and safety briefing specifically designed for students going on placements delivered by IAIS and University of Exeter colleagues;
- Preparation for, and support with, the application procedure, CV writing, personal development planning;
- Introductory sessions with potential work placement hosts;
- Actual work placement with a relevant NGO, media agency, or company in the Middle East that will be facilitated by our IAIS network in association with specialised careers and employability colleagues at the University of Exeter. This can be within the main language placement city (e.g. Amman in Jordan), although other places might be possible.
