PHL3040: Philosophy Dissertation

This module descriptor refers to the 2016/7 academic year.

Module Content

Syllabus Plan

Term 1:

Week 2: 2-hour seminar module introduction
Week 2-3: Students to submit preferred area/topic, and student-supervisor matching
Week 4: 2-hour seminar about supervision, tutor groups, library resources and employment and career planning
Week 5: Submission of dissertation plan and initial bibliography (BART)
Week 6-7: Feedback from supervisor and first 2-3 hour small group seminar with student presentations
At least one extended meeting with the supervisor before the Winter break is highly recommended!

 

Term 2:

Week 6: Submission of first dissertation draft (ca. 5000 words) through BART

Week 7: Second 2-3 hour seminar meeting with student presentations

Week 9-11: Personal feedback on draft, and extended discussion of the steps required for completion with the supervisor

End of April: Submission of the completed dissertation through BART
