Re-assessment
Re-assessment takes place when the summative assessment has not been completed by the original deadline, and the student has been allowed to refer or defer it to a later date (this only happens following certain criteria and is always subject to exam board approval). For obvious reasons, re-assessments cannot be the same as the original assessment and so these alternatives are set. In cases where the form of assessment is the same, the content will nevertheless be different.
Original form of assessment | Form of re-assessment | ILOs re-assessed | Timescale for re-assessment |
---|---|---|---|
Research essay | 3,500 word essay | 1-9 | August assessment period |
Seminar presentation of readings and leading seminar discussion | 1,500 word essay | 1-9 | August assessment period |
Re-assessment notes
The module comprises a formative and a summative assessment. Where you are unable to deliver the summative assessment of seminar presentation of readings and leading seminar discussion you will complete a written discussion equivalent to a 1,500 word presentation. Where you have been referred/deferred for the research essay, an equivalent essay is required, constituting 80% of the module mark.
