LAW2031: The Law of Obligations
This module descriptor refers to the 2017/8 academic year.
Module Content
Syllabus Plan
It is envisaged that the syllabus will include the following topics in the following order although precise content and order may vary.
(1) General introduction: sources of German Civil Law; historical background of the Civil Code;
(2) Formation of contracts, contractual capacity, void legal transactions, standard contract terms, agency;
(3) Definition and sources of obligations;
(4) Performance of contracts, set-off;
(5) Impossibility of performance, delay of performance; breach of contractual duties and of pre-contractual duties.
