This module is intended to provide a useful introduction to law for those of you who have no prior knowledge of the discipline. The module is designed to enable you to develop an understanding of key concepts of law and their application to real life situations. It aims to introduce you to the main sources of the criminal law and provide you with an opportunity to understand the general principles underlying its theory and operation. It offers an overview of the major offences and of the moral issues which underpin criminal law concepts and encourages you to reflect on the background social reasons for criminal law and the moral limitations upon it.
This module is available to interdisciplinary pathways and Flexible Combined Honours students. It is suitable as both a part of the Qualifying Law Degree and also non-specialist programmes.
