POL2163: Pandemic Politics: Studying the Social and Political Context of COVID-19
This module descriptor refers to the 2020/1 academic year.
Module Aims
This module aims to improve (1)your understanding of contemporary events (COVID-19 pandemic) and how these interact with social and political structures and institutions (2) your ability to analyse evidence related to political events, and (3) your skills in critically evaluating the interdisciplinary research on relevant political and social concepts such as identity, communication, globalisation, and social networks. Finally, the module aims to improve your ability to communicate your insights and analysis through creating visual presentations, written blog posts, journal entries and policy reports. The ability to critically evaluate research results, summarise complex theories about political processes and analyse evidence to understand the impact of critical events will enhance employability in a range of fields such as policy analysis, research management and media and communications.
