The module inquires into the nature and conditions of genocide and the Holocaust and stimulates reflection on what can be learned from these phenomena in aid of understanding human nature and social organisation in modern society. It develops interdisciplinary perspectives and insights that draw on theories, methodologies and concepts from sociology, social psychology, historical explanation and moral philosophy. The module is suitable for non-specialist students interested in social-scientific and philosophical approaches to organised, institutionalised wrongs and evils, and it is highly recommended for interdisciplinary pathways.
