This module will support you to make the transition into a successful academic career by helping you to understand, practice and get feedback on a wide range of key skills required to undertake academic work effectively and to manage your work load independently. The course is focused on skills that will be required to engage with your academic learning and research and produce your graded assignments and as such serves as a foundation for every other module. Political communication requires accuracy, detail, clarity, focus and solid analysis regardless of its format. By working on these skills in a structured and supportive environment you will develop your capacity for written and spoken communication that will underpin your academic work and develop key skills for your employability and professional life beyond university.

Teaching will be delivered in term 1 and individual assessment deadlines will be in term 1. Support for development of group projects and skills development will be delivered in term 2. The final group project hand-in and associated symposium will be in term 3.
