Daphne Jackson Research Fellow
I am an ecologist interested in alternative methods of food production. My BBSRC sponsored Daphne Jackson Fellowship at the University of Exeter, is a joint interdisciplinary project with Professors Juliet Osborne (Environment and Sustainability Institute, Penryn) and Michael Winter (Land, Environment, Economics and Policy Institute (LEEP), Politics, Streatham). I am researching Forest Gardens in the UK. These are tree based food systems, based on tropical home gardens, in which a wide variety of predominantly perennial crops are grown in both the horizontal and vertical space. I am looking at the potential benefits of these systems for people as well as for food provision.
In July 2015 I was nominated by the BBSRC to join AcademiaNet – an expert database for outstanding Female academics.
