Module Content

Syllabus Plan

Whilst the module’s precise content may vary from year to year, it is envisaged that the syllabus will cover some or all of the following topics:

General introduction to the German legal system and sources of law;

Historical background of the constitution;

Protection of fundamental rights in general;

Individual rights;

The role of the Federal Constitutional Court; 

Fundamental principles of the state: democracy, rule of law, federalism, social state, republic;

Organs of the state and their functions;

The Legislative process.
