POC3091: Foreign Policy in the Middle East
This module descriptor refers to the 2016/7 academic year.
Please note that this module is only delivered on the Penryn Campus.
Module Aims
This module will:
- provide you with an understanding of the history of the region since its emergence as a modern state system to the present day.
- explain how concepts of (anti)imperialism, cooperation and conflict, regionalism, hegemony and dependence influence the foreign policy decision making in a specific global region
- analyse in-depth case studies of MENA states and the factors that influence their foreign policies.
- inspire you to continue with further study or interest in the International relations and MENA politics.

Module-Specific Skills | 1. demonstrate a deep understanding of how the foreign policy making of MENA states is impacted and influenced by their history, alliances, natural resources, systems of governance, and domestic politics in relation to the international affairs during the same period; 2. demonstrate a detailed and comprehensive understanding of MENA politics and state decision-making processes; 3. apply a range of theoretical and political science concepts to MENA case studies; |
