ARA3165: Advanced Turkish Language I
This module descriptor refers to the 2021/2 academic year.
Module Aims
This module aims to:
- Develop further your active and passive command of the Turkish Language through a wide range of written and pedagogical materials, such as classical and modern Turkish texts (both prose and poetry,) films and other media where appropriate.
- Enable you to have mastery of all aspects of higher Turkish grammar, as well as to develop further conversational, writing and listening skills.
On successfully completing the programme you will be able to: | |

Module-Specific Skills | 1. Deal with written and oral materials in Turkish of various types 2. Produce written Turkish in summary form or more extensively 3. Read classical literary texts at a reasonable speed 4. Have an appreciation of Modern Turkish as a form of communication, and Classical Turkish as a form of literature |
Discipline-Specific Skills | 5. Use independent judgement to select appropriate information at any given time 6. Convey understanding in writing, or orally, specific data |
Personal and Key Skills | 7. Further develop major skills of the language: reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension 8. Demonstrate confidence in the use of foreign language 9. Develop time management skills and ability to conduct independent study |
