SSIM908: Directed Practical Study: Agriculture and Food

This module descriptor refers to the 2021/2 academic year.

Module Aims

With the support of the convener, you will play an active role in securing an internship or placement and in defining its objectives. You will inform yourself about the work you will do by producing an annotated bibliography. You will critically reflect on your experience in a mid-term and a final report. Depending upon your career objectives, you may continue work with your host institution, organization or enterprise after the completion of the module, draw upon contacts developed during your placement or internship to secure employment elsewhere upon completion of the course, and/or use your experience to develop questions for future research.

Module Content

Syllabus Plan

The module will begin with convener-led seminars on: securing an internship or placement; the production of an annotated bibliography; issues arising and the production of mid-term reports; and lessons learned and the production of final reports. Following each of these workshops, you will meet individually with the convener for feedback on work in progress.
