Fiona Knapp
Honorary University Fellow


Fiona has been involved with primary education for more than thirty-five years and was a Headteacher for fourteen years. She is passionate about children’s learning, and has had extensive experience in the primary school sector.. She is now a freelance educational consultant and works with schools across the UK and worldwide leading a range of training in developing children’s learning and thinking. 

She is a Consultant/Assessor for schools seeking accreditation as a ‘Thinking School’, an initiative developed in partnership between the Cognitive Education Development Unit at the University of Exeter and Kestrel Education. Fiona is an Honorary University Fellow and works closely with the CEDU in the school assessment and accreditation process at both primary and secondary level. She is an accredited trainer in a range of thinking tools and strategies including Growing Thinking Schools, Habits of Mind, Questioning for Enquiry, David Hyerle’s Thinking Maps and Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats® and CoRT1 Tools. Fiona has also been an Associate Trainer for the International Primary Curriculum and Fieldwork Education since 2007, has led training for schools across the UK and in a wide range of schools internationally, and also plans and leads courses at IPC Summer Schools. Fiona has also delivered training in schools on behalf of Espresso Education and she is a school Governor.
