Thomas Ralph
Lecturer - Secondary Mathematics

Profile

I joined Exeter in September 2009 as a Teacher Education Research Fellow. Prior to this I spent 11 years teaching in various schools in London and Dorset. I also briefly worked as a consultant at SMILE Maths developing educational software. Most recently I was a head of department in a school which specialised in Maths.

I am currently the subject leader for the PGCE in Secondary Maths across the HEI led course. School Direct and Teach First. I supervise students on the Independent Study Masters Module as well as being a dissertation supervisor. I also teach the statistics element of the Scientific Methodologies module which is part of the MSc in Educational Research.

I recently completed my PhD which focused on resistant students in school and how they made use of space to make school the kind of place they wanted to be..
