Cathy Potter joined the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies as Department Manager in November 2022.

Cathy previously worked in Research Services, EU/International Cluster as a Research Development Manager, providing pre- and post-award support to academics applying for EU research grants, particularly Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, but also to international funders such as the NIH. Prior to this, Cathy worked at University College London in a similar role.

Before joining the Higher Education sector Cathy worked as a fundraiser/grant writer in the charity sector in the UK, South Africa and Egypt, and worked in English language teaching in the UAE, Egypt and South Africa.
