More than 20,000 people have registered their interest in undertaking work

Agricultural jobs website launches to connect farms with work-seekers

With an acute labour shortage in the seasonal farming industry and millions of people either out of work or furloughed, The Land Army was born with the goal of connecting farms and agricultural businesses with suitable candidates quickly. The Land Army was co-founded by Hampshire brothers Ben and Guy Habgood and is directed by University of Exeter alumni, Jacob Herandi. Having found themselves out of work due to Covid-19, the brothers, who have strong ties to the Hampshire and Dorset countryside, began looking for farm work as a means to cover their bills. It was only when searching for farm work that they realised the enormity of the task at hand and the fact that farms and workers needed to be matched quickly to help with labour shortages in the industry.

Within weeks of the initial idea 20,000 people had registered their interest in undertaking work, with mentions on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen Live, BBC Radio Wiltshire and a number of farming blogs.

Fast forward a few weeks more and www.thelandarmy.jobs was launched, an agricultural jobs board website boasting a number of industry-specific features to help work-seekers more easily find roles suitable to their circumstances, and to allow farms to quickly short-list and connect with applicants that best match their target profile.

With job applications already flowing on the platform, The Land Army team are confident that “by offering more clarity, flexibility and choice to both farms and those seeking work, www.thelandarmy.jobs will help rebut the recent headlines and enable farms to connect with hard working people across the UK”.

The business is setting aside 5% of each job post to help tackle farming issues, and is in talks with a well-known agricultural charity to establish its first charity partner.

Farms can email farms@thelandarmy.jobs for more information and general enquiries can be sent to hello@thelandarmy.jobs.
