Dr Yen Nee Wong
Associate Lecturer (E&S)
I lecture in criminology and sociology. My doctoral research examined LGBTQ+ partner dancing subcultures in the United Kingdom through an autoethnographic approach, specifically investigating identity (genders and sexualities) work in equaltiy Dancesport. Highlighting the performative and sensory natures of gender and sexualty performances through queer dancing bodies, my project sought to give voice to the transgressive body politics of LGBTQ+ dancers.
My research interests are in gender, sexuality, performativity, embodiment, queer bodies, LGBTQ+ subcultures and dance.
