Successful internship in Taiwan

Kelvin Leong who is studying LLB Law enjoyed a successful internship in Taiwan.  He shares his experience below.

'My internship started on 1 June, and ended on 31 August 2015 at Lee & Li in Taiwan.  I did not face any major difficulties as I am familiar with Taiwan and speak Mandarin fluently. If there was any difficulty, then perhaps it was the feeling of anxiety, as I was afraid I would not live up to the high expectations of such a prestigious law firm. However, I realized that work became enjoyable when you were determined to work hard and when you consulted others.

I would recommend the internship because Lee & Li is the most prestigious law firm in Taiwan and they have this concept of treating all staff as a family to encourage high levels of team morale. You are exposed to law training, research, translation and corporate structures. Industriousness is highly regarded in Taiwan and interns who are willing to work hard and never give up in overcoming challenges are well regarded. I think this is a great firm to work for, if you want to reach your full potential in law.

I also picked up the sport of Taiji which is an ancient Chinese art by joining the Taiji Society of Lee & Li. The firm has a number of recreational societies that staff are encouraged to join. Taipei is such a vibrant city to be in. The people are kind, helpful and hospitable. The Taiwanese people have a great passion for tea which was heaven for me as a tea drinker.'
