Women in the Law careers panel

In early November 2015 alumnae from the University of Exeter's Law School gathered for a mini-reunion and volunteered to talk to current students about issues and opportunities when pursuing a career in law.

Chaired by Deborah Cochrane, Visiting Lecturer in Law, the Women in the Law panel began by introducing themselves and explaining their career paths from their law degree at Exeter to their current positions. An interactive Q&A session explored further themes such as the opportunities for progression to Partner in a law firm, the variety of in-house and specialist law recruitment roles available and they gave tips and advice to current students on having a successful and fulfilling law career. There was an in-depth discussion of all themes due to the wide range of experiences that each panellist has had throughout their careers.

The talk was followed by an hour-long networking session where students were able to benefit from the opportunity to directly ask questions to our panellists as well as network with their peers across year groups and disciplines.

We would like to thank the panellists for joining us and volunteering their time to this event which students commented was a “refreshing change” from the usual employer presentations.
